We Did It! Well done WFS

Attention all WFS Choir Members and our Friends-

Our performance of Britten: St Nicolas last Saturday  in Rowe St.under the baton of WFO Festival Director David Agler was very well received by our audience.

It was a great pleasure for us all in WFS to sing again with the Prague Chamber Choir under their Music Director Lubomir Matl and for the first time with the Palestrina Choir under their Music Director Blainid Murphy.

The orchestra and soloists were a credit to the event.

Our own Music Director Eithne was very pleased with our performance and we are as always very grateful to her for her professional and untiring work in preparing us so well to participate in this very special event.

Many many thanks also to Helen Doyle for organising the afterglow party in Whites which was very successful.

We also owe our thanks to Christine Mooney for all her work in administration of the event for us during what was a busy time for her while engaged in the highly successful exhibition of her art works in Johnstown.

All our choir members who participated deserve an individual thank you for their efforts.

We were of course very sorry not to have Mary Stafford sing with us this year. This was due to a family bereavement and we all missed her greatly.

We also thank Wexford Festival Opera for their support to our choir in engaging us for this special Choral Concert and to their Chairperson Peter Scallan for his good wishes to us on the day.

The Scallan Family have a very distinguished record of participation in Wexford Festival Singers over many years and I trust we did not let them down on this occasion with our performance.

Next WFS Rehearsal: Wednesday 10th November- 7.30 pm in the Friary Hall.

  • Our performance of St. Nicolas by Britten will now be followed on by the Jim Molloy produced Magic of Christmas concert in Wexford Opera House on Dec 10th. These performances will be followed by rehearsals for our own WFS produced concert of Faure Requiem upcoming in 2011.

There is a lot of work to be done!

Please contact any WFS members you know who are not now singing the Britten with us to rejoin.

It is now also a very good time for new members to join us as we are starting a new program- get out there and recruit a few likely singers to sign up!!!

We will use the period up to December 2010 as a FREE trial period for any new person joining WFS.
